It heats up, cools down, expands slightly in use and sits in a spot where knocks, cleaning and moisture can all affect the finish. That means product choice should be based on operating temperature, adhesion and final appearance, not just colour alone.
Do radiators need heat resistant paint in every case?

Most domestic radiators do not reach the extreme temperatures you would see on a stove, flue pipe or engine component, so they do not usually require ultra high temperature paint. Poor ventilation, rushed recoat times and weak prep all create problems as well. So does assuming every heated surface needs the same product. A radiator is not a log burner, and a stove paint is not automatically the best choice for a domestic central heating radiator.
