Troubleshooting & Support

Contact a Paint Expert

Not every project fits neatly into a product selector. Our Paint Expert page gives customers a clear route to provide the information needed for practical coating advice.

Quick answer

The more detail you can provide, the more useful the recommendation will be. Photos, substrate information, existing coating details, colour references and intended finish are especially helpful.

What to do

1

Tell us what you are painting

Describe the item or project and, where possible, its dimensions and whether it is indoors or outdoors.

2

Tell us the substrate

Let us know whether the surface is steel, aluminium, galvanised metal, plastic, uPVC, wood, MDF or another material.

3

Describe the existing finish

Tell us whether it is bare, painted, powder coated, rusty, lacquered or otherwise coated. Mention any known coating brand or system.

4

Explain the condition

Describe peeling, rust, scratches, contamination, repairs or other defects that need to be addressed.

5

Tell us the finish you need

Let us know whether you require matt, satin, gloss or another finish, plus any durability or exterior requirements.

6

Provide the colour information

A colour name, brand, code, physical sample, spray-out card or reliable reference can all help with colour matching.

7

Add photographs where useful

Clear photographs in good natural or neutral light can help us understand the substrate, existing coating and condition.

8

Wait for confirmation before buying unusual systems

For complex or uncertain projects, get the coating system confirmed before committing to a full application.

Important

Follow the product label and current Technical and Safety Data Sheets. Do not modify, puncture or misuse aerosol containers.

Frequently asked questions

What information should I include in an enquiry?
Include the substrate, condition, existing coating, indoor or outdoor use, required finish, colour information and photographs where possible.
Can you match a colour from a physical sample?
We can assess physical colour samples for matching. A sample or suitable reference is normally more reliable than a photograph of a colour on a screen.
Can you recommend primer as well as paint?
Yes. Tell us the actual substrate and existing coating so the complete system can be considered.
Can you advise on unusual or mixed substrates?
Yes. Mixed-material projects should be described in detail because different areas may require different preparation or primers.
Can I send photos with my enquiry?
Yes. Clear photos of the overall project and close-ups of the substrate and any defects are useful.
