HMG Thinner 2631 is a hydrocarbon-free, solvent-based thinner designed for use with recommended HMG coating systems. It is used to adjust the viscosity of compatible coatings for easier application, helping achieve the correct flow and finish where HMG specifies Thinner 2631 in the relevant product datasheet. HMG lists the product code as TNR2631 and describes it as “a hydrocarbon-free thinner for use in recommended HMG systems.”
It is commonly associated with pre-cat / acid-catalyst coating systems, particularly for thinning Precat primers and topcoat paints for spray application. Supplier information also describes it as fast drying, fast handling, and suitable for cleaning and thinning Precat Primer & Topcoat.
Key details: flashpoint -18°C, store between 5°C and 25°C, keep cans sealed when not in use, and use within 12 months from delivery when kept in original sealed containers. Always refer to the SDS, product datasheet, and tin label before use.
Safety note: because Thinner 2631 has a very low listed flashpoint of -18°C, it should be treated as a highly flammable solvent thinner. Keep away from heat, sparks, flames, and other ignition sources; use only with good ventilation; and wear suitable eye protection, solvent-resistant gloves, and any respiratory protection required by the SDS or site risk assessment. HMG specifically advises users to refer to the SDS and tin label prior to use.
